Béla Ferenc Dezső Blaskó , better known by his stage name , lived a life as dramatic and haunting as the gothic films that made him a legend. Born in 1882 in Lugos, Hungary (now Lugoj, Romania), he dropped out of school at age 12 to pursue acting, eventually adopting a stage name inspired by his hometown.
