Set in 2012, the film follows (Adam Sandler), a charismatic New York City jeweler with a severe gambling addiction. Howard’s life is a constant "high-wire act" as he tries to juggle massive debts, a crumbling family life, and dangerous adversaries.
The story centers on a rare, black opal Howard smuggles from Ethiopia. He believes the gemstone will be his "ultimate win" at auction, but his plan goes off the rails when NBA star becomes obsessed with the stone, believing it to be a lucky charm.
