Two years after Andy gave his toys to Bonnie, Woody is struggling with a new reality where he is no longer the "top toy" and is frequently left in the closet. When Bonnie creates a new "toy" named out of a spork and trash at kindergarten orientation, Woody takes it upon himself to protect the existential utensil, who believes he is garbage rather than a toy. The Road Trip Adventure

In the emotional climax, Woody realizes that while his time with Bonnie has ended, he can find a new purpose. With Buzz Lightyear's support, Woody decides to stay with Bo Peep as a lost toy, dedicating his life to helping other ownerless toys find children to love them.

While on a family road trip, Forky jumps out of the RV, forcing Woody to rescue him. During their journey back to Bonnie, they encounter:

The story explores deep themes of self-actualization and moving on. Woody eventually trades his voice box to Gabby Gabby to secure Forky's release, later helping Gabby find a home with a lost girl at the carnival.
