There are two primary types of collection nets, each with different storage capacities and resource requirements:

: An L-shaped configuration (two adjacent lines of 27 nets with an empty corner) ensures you collect all flotsam regardless of which way your raft is facing. This is highly recommended for the early game when your raft often rotates accidentally.

: A straight line of 28 nets will catch all incoming debris if positioned perfectly perpendicular to your direction of travel. This is most effective once you have a steering wheel to maintain your orientation.

Efficiency depends on how you position your nets relative to the ocean's "flotsam stream," which is approximately and centered on your original four foundations.
