Created by David Croft and Richard Spendlove, Oh Doctor Beeching! is a 1960s-set British sitcom and spiritual successor to Hi-de-Hi! that follows staff at the fictional Hatley railway station fighting against the real-life Beeching cuts. Featuring popular Hi-de-Hi! cast members like Paul Shane and Su Pollard, the series explores the comedic, high-stakes efforts of the station staff to save their jobs under the watchful eye of a new, strict stationmaster, Cecil Parkin. The first series, which began with a 1995 pilot followed by eight episodes in 1996, focuses on the nostalgic, character-driven comedy and the chemistry of the main cast.
