Seconds later, a blinding pillar of white light slammed into the sea just yards away, turning the ocean into a frantic wall of steam. Elias didn't need the warning. He could see the faint, rhythmic glow of an enemy satellite locking on from the upper atmosphere. In this world, the war wasn't just fought on the waves; it was fought between the stars and the seabed.

The Bastion’s massive crane-arm swung into position, the Magnabeam humming with a low, bone-shaking frequency. As the enemy cruiser leapt over a massive swell, Elias slammed the trigger. The beam caught the ship mid-air, pulling it violently toward the Bastion's armored side. "Fire the deck cannons—point-blank!"
